When drawing a new piece, how do you all usually start off?

I usually scribble an insanely messy outline and add details later.

In my case I play around to find good proportions and fitting pose.

Not that it helps much.

In my case I quickly sketch something out of spheres and other volumes with skinny triangular arms and legs and hands and feet that looks an order of magnitude more natural and well-posed than I expect and then totally fail to capture that part of it when I draw detail over the top and ink it.

With the characters... Most of the time I draw the dynamic lines. I put the main volumes (head, torso, muscles) on them. Then the hard and fun part: clean it until the proportions are the most right possible without killing the life I gave in the first step. Then ink.
Backgrounds with perspective (architecture and cities) have a precise rough before inking; those without line perspective (forest, valley, landscapes) are generally directly inked after a vague sketch.

I feel pretty unsophisticated compared to most people...

I slap shit together and see what happens.

Yeah, like DKL, cause I'm a noob, I just stupidly try to do what I've got straight on. Well, usually.

When I'm in a rush, it's just a super rough sketch with large strokes over and over again, and blindingly hoping it gets better eventually. Those actually usually turn out better, at least for proportions and crap.

I should practice more~ And actually like, learn more anatomy than super quick overviews.

I should send this to square; they'll eat this shit up.

Although I've been told to add belts before I do so.

I have cast self resurrection on my dead self.

Been on a backpacking international adventure with couple buds; haven't touched the computer that much.
Singapore here I come. I'll post pictures of anything crazy throughout my adventures.

Old and New doodles I decided to post:

Also a Blossom guy but I figured the pose I had in mind was more Buttercup-ee.

I was never really a fan of coloring and inking. Just sketching things out of impulse is my groove.
